Studies have indicated that inversion has wide-ranging benefits for those suffering back pain.
Sheffield, F. "Adaptation of Tilt Table for Lumbar Traction." Arch Phys Med Rehabil 45 (Sep. 1964): 469-472.
175 back pain sufferers were unable to work due to the severity of their back ailment. After only eight inversion treatments, 155 sufferers were able to return to their jobs full time. The study concluded that the main basis for improvement was the stretching of paraspinal vertebral muscles and ligaments and possibly the widening of intervertebral discs.
Nosse, L. "Inverted Spinal Traction." Arch Phys Rehab 59 (Aug. 1978): 367-370
This study found emg activity (an indication of muscle pain) declined 35% within the first 10 seconds of inversion. The study concluded there was a correlation between a reduction in emg activity and an increase in spinal length.
*Before using Bioflex™ it is recommended you seek an opinion from a health care professional regarding your suitability to tolerate and benefit from inversion.
